Description

Technology is a booming industry with growing importance in any given economy, but it is also suffering from a large skill shortage at a time when a criminally low proportion of women are entering and staying in the fields related to mathematics & computer science. Anne-Marie will dissect the HERstory of the technology industry of the past and present revealing the latest technologies. Hear how inclusion in a tech-driven world can impact the persistent bias in data collection and algorithms that make very big decisions in our lives. Anne-Marie will discuss what we can do to cultivate technology leaders for the future of work. What happens when you fill a house in South London with 115 teenagers for 6 weeks and get them to EAT SLEEP STEM REPEAT? The findings are positively surprising. Anne-Marie uses them as a platform to show how to educate and engage with the future leaders to best effect democratizing technology with a learning tribe empowered by mentors and a growth mindset. Giving opportunities to young people to make informed decisions on their own relationship with the field of technology can shift the social norm and encourage entrepreneurship. The future is bright; the future is STEAM.
